"Severe Eye Infection"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to Sydney Eye Hospital following a severe keratitis infection in my left eye. I was admitted for 10 days and was looked after by the amazing cornea team. I am also very appreciative for the support from Social Worker Beata. As someone in their late 20s who is going to be out of work and play for the next few months to recover, Beata was particularly helpful in helping me face the emotional trauma caused by my eye infection.

And for anyone reading this - follow the care instructions on your contact lenses. I believe it’s not worth it.

Dear plusyc58,

Thank you so much for your kind words. We have shared your story with Beata and the cornea team. We always aim to deliver safe and high-quality care combined with kindness and compassion, so it’s really great to hear that Beata and the cornea team are leading the way.

I hope you your eye is improving and great advice about contact lens.

Best wishes

Dr Pauline Rumma
