"Home care for my spouse"

About: Indigo@Home

(as a service user),

I feel that I should introduce myself as the background make the story...I am in my late 80s and have a very close relationship with my spouse since were in 2nd form at High School [in the 1940s].

Unfortunately my spouse was not blessed with good health and I have looked after them over the years. Eventually they were classed at Level 4 for assistance to remain at home. This continued until May last year when unfortunately my spouse passed away. This assistance provided and the personnel who provided it was  / were excellent but I was rather taken back when everything stopped immediately on their passing, adding this to the shock / confusion etc I suffered is hard to quantify.

However I am now getting on top of things and have been assessed at Level 1 which in my case is a weekly service [1 hour] house cleaning. I am afraid My Health is not as it was and I am very limited with physical activities and am hopeful that some means to rectify this situation can be arranged as gardening etc are beyond my scope now.

My thanks and appreciation for the assistance we received in the past, it was most appreciated. I apologise for not writing on this Form provided but you would not be able to follow or recognise my writing.

Sincerely

zuluwk54

Dear zuluwk54,

Thank you for your feedback – it is so lovely to hear that you and your spouse were well supported with the assistance of case management and the Level 4 Home Care Package. Unfortunately, package guidelines mandate that all services cease immediately under the package when the person enters care or pass away and this can be a massive loss and disruption when it is unexpected. I am pleased to hear you now have in home support and what sounds like a Level 1 Home Care Package. In the event your health continues to change, and you are in need of additional services – you may be eligible for a reassessment by the Aged Care Assessment Service. Please contact your case manager to discuss this option further when the need arises. Thank you again for taking the time to forward your experience of our service.
