My son was admitted recently to the youth mental health unit with worsening suicidal ideation and PTSD symptoms. I could not fault the care he received from all of the staff working there. Dr Michael contacted me every couple of days to update me on my sons progress which I was eternally grateful for. The peer support workers are also a massive asset to the unit, my son felt comfortable enough to open up to one in particular which was a massive thing for him. I even received a followup call post discharge to see how my son was travelling at home.

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart. You all made an extremely stressful and confronting admission into a truly positive experience for both of us.

It is heartening to read your comments about the staff that cared for your son. We are certainly proud of the level of commitment that staff in our public hospitals bring to their roles, and they are always delighted when they receive recognition from patients and their families. I am pleased to hear of the ongoing communication you had with our staff throughout your sons’ admission. Our Peer Support Workers are highly skilled, invaluable members of our multidisciplinary team and I am glad they were able to support your sons’ recovery journey.
