"Problem making appointments at radiology"

About: I-MED Radiology Network - Albany Health Campus

(as the patient),

Last year, I found after wonderful care at Albany Health Campus for breast cancer, I had a follow -up visit with my oncologist who gave me two referrals. I tried to make an appointment early this year as my next appointment with the oncologist was on a few weeks later.

It was not possible at the time and I was advised to return mid-month to make the appointment, which I absolutely understood.

I returned mid-month to make the appointment and was told that appointments for the next month were not yet being made. My two referrals -for a mammogram and ultrasound and a bone density test – were handed over and I was told I would hear via my phone in early the next month as soon as the calendar for that month was opened up for bookings.

I heard nothing about my appointments, so I went to I-Med at AHC early that month and found that no appointments had been made for me the following week. They managed to squeeze me in for the mammogram and ultrasound that week but the bone density test was to be done after my meeting with the oncologist.

My concern is that, in this computer age, I feel that appointments cannot be made a couple of weeks ahead.

Luckily I only live a short drive from the hospital so I was not greatly inconvenienced but I felt I did have to attend unnecessarily to sort out appointments that I had been promised by the staff would be organized by them.

I found that it seems a very confusing and inefficient operating method.
