Fell and broke my humerus in 2 places. Taken to ED by ambulance. Obviously in corridor for a long time. X-ray ordered. Ambo’s took me down to X-ray. I found the Male Radiographer lovely. At this stage hour after my accident was still in soiled clothing. I found this shocking. Radiographer actually locked off room and ambo’s and radiographer did the horrible task of cutting off my clothes and cleaning me up the best they could. I feel I owe my sanity to those 3 people.
Back to a cubicle at ED. I felt the registered nurse knew more than the dr involved for the entire time of my stay. Everyone said surgery. No. Was sent home for over two weeks in agony. Couldn’t believe it. Attended trauma clinic on 7th day. Out of alignment 50% and unstable.
Waited another week in agony until op. I believe the ED is broken. Was told that nurses now have to do some of the jobs of orderlies because so many were let go. I believe this is not good enough. Based on my experience, I would give your ED 1 /10. I found the registered nurse involved in my care was great.
Once in hospital for op my experience was definitely different. I found the Waiting/holding area great. I felt the Anaesthetists were great and Surgeons fantastic. C2 great. Tea trolley staff I laughed at. Asked for a green tea. I recall their response, only private patients have green tea.
