"We are grateful for our child health nurse"

About: Child and Parent Centre – Collie Valley

(as a parent/guardian),

I would like to thank our child health nurse, Jen for always going above and beyond as our child health nurse. My child is just under a year old, we have been visiting Jen since our child was just a few weeks old. I feel Jen has always being so lovely to my child, always full of smiles and kindness, but also professionally thorough with her assessments. I was a very anxious first time Mum and have been to more than the usual number of appointments/checkups. I find Jen is always happy to see us, even squeezing us in to last minute appointments and answering phone calls at times. She has always been so kind and supportive, reassuring me and allaying my anxieties. She would often print out helpful resources and give me tips and guidance.

This was especially appreciative in my early transition to motherhood as I lacked family support and was very anxious, especially about breastfeeding and if my child was gaining enough weight. Despite being a "child health nurse", I find Jen has always cared about my health too, both physical and mental and I'm really grateful for that. Approaching the one year milestone, my child is thriving and I feel like a confident Mum. We are both very grateful to Jen for all her support, guiding us and celebrating our milestones. I think she is a wonderful child health nurse and our community is lucky to have her! And if my words aren't enough, my child always has big smiles everytime she sees Jen! :) Thank you for everything Jen.

Hello vegahs54,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for providing feedback; regardless of its nature feedback is always appreciated to help improve and refine the Child Health Service. Secondly, your feedback is very moving. The goal of Child Health Services is to support families through the transition of becoming parents, and it sounds like this has been achieved. You described becoming a mother and how the transition can be difficult, this is often the experience of parents and is something we see every day. To know that we can make a difference at a time that can be stressful and exhausting makes our job even more rewarding. Parent’s do the hard work, we are just here to help, it is lovely to hear that we are helping and making a difference in people’s lives.

Thank you again for your feedback. We will acknowledge this great achievement as a team with Jen and her colleagues. Please do not hesitate to provide more feedback in the future.

Kind Regards

Georgina Greaves
