"Home help after surgery"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as a service user),

I had 2 weeks of girls coming to help in my home after getting out of Bunbury Hospital after my surgery. There was Laura, Lisa and Nicola they were the ones that were in contact with me and they were absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

The program itself is so good, it took weight off my shoulders. I wouldn’t have recovered so quickly without it. I didn’t know it was there at the service until I was leaving hospital. The girls came see me the day after I got out of hospital and kept in contact with me over 2 weeks. I had a roster on my phone so I knew when they were coming and when they were leaving.

Laura came the last week nearly to the end of the program and she made sure everything was okay and I couldn’t want for anything better. My daughter had actually taken 2 weeks off work to help me, but with their help she didn’t have to do as much help as she would have to have done. She’s not that well either, so it was really good.

The girls that came here were punctual, they did all the things they were supposed to. I can walk nearly without my walker now, I never have done that before! I took their advice and now I can walk in the house without the walker, the pain is just about all gone.

I think it is just a wonderful program. The girls were so lovely I couldn’t ask for anything better. Not one of them was a bad person.

Dear statusjh36,

Thankyou for your feedback regarding the care provided to you after leaving hospital. I am glad to hear that this assistance enabled your daughter to return to work earlier than anticipated and that the care has improved your mobility and that you are back walking without your walker in the house.

We are working hard to ensure that discharge from hospital is as safe and efficient as possible and that patients are provided with care in their own home.

Thankyou again for your kind feedback I will make sure that the team are made aware of this and that you are doing well.

Kind regards

Ceri Elliott
