"Elderly parent transfer"

About: Armadale Hospital

(as a relative),

My concern is that my elderly parent was released and sent back to their nursing home late in the late evening/early hours of the morning, around midnight.

One of the reasons for my parent being admitted to the hospital was for delirium, so to send them home at that hour has added to their confusion.

Seemingly setting my parent back after the progress they had made whilst in hospital.

I am very disappointed that the decision was made to send my parent home to the nursing home at this hour, I felt this was very unfair on both my parent and the staff at the home,

Dear skyqr88

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your parent’s experience at Armadale Kalamunda Group (AKG) and the late hour of their discharge back to their nursing home.

I can appreciate how disappointed you are about their care and agree that this would have been unfair for both the nursing home and your parent.

We pride ourselves on excellent care for all patients, so please be assured that I will look into our discharge process for patients.

To help us investigate this further I would encourage you to contact us via our Consumer Liaison Service on (08) 9391 1153 or email AKG_ConsumerLiaison@health.wa.gov.au.

I hope my response finds your parent recovering well, and that you can accept my apology for the elements of the care we provided which were not as they should have been.

Kind regards

Neil Cowan
