I was referred to the ED by my GP to rule out a potentially serious illness, to have some tests, and to attempt to alleviate my most concerning symptoms.
I felt the triage team were very kind and considerate and I was approached several times while I was in the waiting room to ensure I still felt comfortable, providing any help they could within the waiting-room environment and keeping an eye on my symptoms. That was very comforting and reassuring.
The Doctor who was assigned to me, Dr Devendran, was very attentive, had a lovely friendly bedside manner and really took time to listen. He asked questions with incredible delicacy and respect, was patient with my sometimes muddled responses, and had such a pleasant demeanour that put me very much at ease. I felt very confident in his care, and he was very thorough, taking extra care to ensure I understood what we were looking to achieve within the ED and post-discharge.
The nurses, technicians and other support staff I saw were all so considerate, and although the experience was very anxiety-inducing, they all helped me to feel I was in the best of hands.
"Compassion, consideration and care."
