I went to emergency in Bunbury, the 1st initial nurse saw me straight away , then in the waiting room of about 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
Once my turn to head into emergency for help, everyone I saw was fantastic , so kind and helpful. I had blood and a scan taken pretty much straight away. And given pain relief.
Once it was certain I had a perforated appendix , I was going to be taken to a ward / room.
Once at the room, another person came to take me straight away to surgery.
This was the only time I was in a room or on the ward ( which was quite literally 10-15 minutes at the most) I was taken in for surgery , everyone was caring and fantastic. The room on the ward had 2 empty beds, one was mine.
After surgery I was taken to the Day Procedure Unit and had exceptional care from all nurses. I cannot fault the care of any of the nursing staff or doctors I saw. I had an issue with being able to have blood drawn , they were all so thoughtful and I had multiple staff "having a go" as to not cause me distress , they even arranged an ultrasound in the middle of the night on my arm to locate suitable veins.
My only complaint was I stayed 6 days in the " open " room of the Day Procedure Unit. No privacy , shared bathroom facilities with 10+ other patients. Curtains can only provide so much visual privacy. No visitors allowed until 5-7 pm, when I was there for 6 days. I could hear the nursing staff on the phone asking for me to be taken to a room, but apparently there wasn't one available?
