One morning recently, my eye rapidly reached a point where it was painful and only able to distinguish very large objects. At the Eye Hospital, Dr Luke, Dr Daniel injected antibiotics into my eye to control the infection. I was operated on by Dr James and his capable team, and felt comfortable during and after the operation. From there it was just rest, with eye drops every hour and moxifloxacin tablets each day following an ECG. I am so glad I was in their care; my sight is returning and I have reason to hope for a full recovery.
It was a delight to be looked after by the nurses, who without exception in my experience, are cheerful, caring and always willing to help. It was lovely hearing the nurses laughing in the corridor: it seems they actually enjoy their work! They were up for a chat while performing their duties.
One young person was brought into our ward, and, in a loud voice, threatened to kill themselves in front of everyone. A few minutes later they yelled threatened to commit mass murder like ... (they gave the name of a person who had apparently committed mass murder).
The nurses coped with this very well, moving me and my other room mate out of the room very smoothly. All my things were carefully moved to another ward, and the nurses were a model of calm behaviour.
I wish I could remember the names of all the nurses, but I didn't write them down, and I think that in my five day stay I had at least one shift with each nurse, so my thanks to *all* of you wonderful people! I'm so glad you have found a profession that you enjoy and that I believe you perform so well in. Congratulations on being so excellent!
