"Cleanliness"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Medical Ward

(as the patient),

Used toilet and found a bloody wet towel lying on the edge of the sink. Felt that the towel may contain dangerous biological things that could have caused harm.

Xray table had a used paper sheet with bloodstain. Operator turned the corner over when they came in the room. I believe they should have torn it off after that patient. I didn't need to use the table but nevertheless felt disgusted and doubtful about the operator's awareness of cleanliness in a hospital.

Dear leopardqg88,

I was really sorry to read that you experienced these two incidents whilst a patient at Bunbury Hospital. We take great pride in keeping the hospital clean, tidy and well cared for. However, on this occasion we clearly missed identifying and rectifying these items in a timely way. I know the ward and x-ray teams will also be disappointed to learn of your experiences as infection prevention and control is at the heart of what they do.

Whilst Bunbury Hospital does not have oversight of the x-ray service, I will pass on your concerns to the provider.

Please know that we welcome this feedback as it helps us to continue to improve our systems and processes so that all patients can continue to feel safe and supported.

Once again, I sincerely apologise for these experiences.

Wishing you well.
