"Wait times with a child"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My child needed to go to the hospital we sat in the waiting room for 4.5 hours waiting to see a doctor, didn’t get seen until 11:30pm at night. For a child (tween) to sit there and try to stay awake while they are in pain, with no communication from any staff or anyone to check up on them I find it quite ridiculous. I believe the health system needs to sort out their time management this is not the first time

Dear Eyeslikegod,

Thank you for reaching out with your feedback. We understand that waiting times can be challenging, especially when you're in need of care. Please know that our team works tirelessly to prioritize patients based on the urgency of their conditions, and this can sometimes result in varying wait times depending on the circumstances within the department.

I want to assure you that we have measures in place to address any concerns about deteriorating conditions while waiting. We provide an Aishwarya care call phone in the ED waiting room, clearly marked for easy access. If you or your loved ones feel that your condition is worsening and you need immediate attention, please don't hesitate to use this phone to escalate your situation to our staff.

I'm truly sorry to hear that you're feeling this way, and I want to reassure you that our primary goal is to provide timely and appropriate care to all patients. If you would like to discuss your experience further or if there's anything else we can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your well-being is our utmost priority.

Best regards,

James Broome Hospital Executive
