My experience with pregnancy care, birth and postpartum care through the Family Birth Centre was exceptionally positive. My midwife Olivia provided sensitivity and professionalism, evidence based guidance, excellent support and continuity of care in a relaxed and empowering setting.
She frequently followed up with us outside appointments and kept us informed every step of the way, including during the actual birth. I was allowed medical and lifestyle choices without fear of judgement and whole hearted support to do what was best for my situation and family. She was across my and baby’s medical needs and my preferences always and provided a seamless handover when I had to be transferred to the maternity hospital for additional care. The fact this was an accessible and affordable public model of care after having a lesser yet expensive experience as a private patient for my last birth was amazing as well. The only down side is there is not a service like this available more north of Perth and I had to travel about 40 minutes for all my appointments and birth. The home visits after birth have been very helpful.
