"Birthing at the KEMH Birth Centre"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Family Birth Centre

(as the patient),

I had my first son at the KEMH Birthing Centre, and my experience was nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, I received exceptional care from my primary midwife, Olivia, with Katie as my backup midwife. Both my husband and I felt supported and reassured throughout the entire journey, which helped me feel relaxed and calm when it came time to give birth.

I went into labour at 41 weeks and was cared for by Katie. Meeting my backup midwife beforehand made such a difference—it gave me confidence and comfort knowing I was in capable hands. I had a drug-free water birth, and even though my son was born posterior, everything went smoothly thanks to the incredible care I received.

The aftercare was equally brilliant. The home visits were invaluable in helping me transition into motherhood, giving me the confidence I needed in my own abilities. The midwives were compassionate, supportive, and instrumental in ensuring everything went as smoothly as possible.

The past six months since my son’s birth have been the best of my life, and I truly believe that my positive pregnancy and birthing experience have played a huge role in making this new chapter so fulfilling. I can’t thank the team at the KEMH Birthing Centre enough for their outstanding care.

P.S Sophie and Chelsea were amazing.

Dear izarwe39,

It’s wonderful to hear how well the continuity model of care provided by the Family Birth Centre (FBC) at King Edward Memorial Hospital has had such a positive influence on not just your pregnancy and birth, but also this whole new chapter in your life.

From the journey you have described it is clear the support and care you received, particularly during the posterior birth of your son, had a very positive impact. I’m pleased this carried right on through to the home visits and helped you transition so smoothly into motherhood.

It will give me a great deal of pleasure to pass on your kind thoughts to Olivia, Katie, Sophie, Chelsea and the whole FBC team.

Once again, many thanks for your feedback, and I wish you and your family all the best.

Delaney
