I had an excellent experience with the family birth centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital. My midwife Mimi had all the qualities you would hope for in a midwife - kind, friendly, and caring while also professional and clearly very competent and knowledgeable. I felt totally safe and confident that I was getting high-quality care.
When my baby moved into the breech position, Mimi (and a student midwife) identified this straight away and referred me to the main hospital when she remained in this position. When the day came for a recommended caesarean delivery, Mimi made sure to attend and was a very reassuring presence.
Despite not being able to birth in the birth centre as I had originally hoped, Mimi and the other midwives at the centre helped ensure that my baby arrived safely and thanks to them, my experience of pregnancy and birth was very positive.
