I have given birth to my two daughters at the Family Birth centre at KEMH in 2020 and 2023. Both births were no intervention water births. The facilities at the family birth centre are amazing, from the spacious rooms and large water birth pool, creating a calming home-like environment for labouring women.
The support of the midwives from the FBC is amazing and the empowering and positive support they provide is second to none. I feel the model of care of the FBC is what allows so many women to achieve births where they feel confident and listened to, and walk away feeling overwhelming empowerment.
I believe the birth centre is a fantastic facility with state of the art midwifery care and I hope this never stops being available to women in Perth.
