It all started with a friend who had been to the FBC and it looked like an amazing experience. Looking through her photos I thought to my self I want to try this labour. So I messaged my friend and asked a few questions then applied for the FBC.
Few weeks went by and I got an email back saying I have been accepted, I was over the moon! I found the process was so easy I went to my doctor for the last time to make sure everything was good and she was then happy to pass me over to the FBC team.
I was then called by a midwife at the FBC and said congratulations you are now officially with us and booked in a day to meet and get the ball rolling.
I found every appointment was amazing and was such a relaxed feeling. I never felt like I couldn’t ask questions nor did I every feel pressured into anything that I didn’t understand. I was never waiting ages no more than 5 mins but i didn’t care as the environment was lovely and I could sit and enjoy my coffee or snack before seeing my midwife.
Overall I found the antenatal care was Amazing!
Now skip to my birth… Wow again amazing I loved every minute of it even though it hurt! I found my midwife was so lovely and calm, she made me & my family feel relaxed even when things weren’t going to plan. The team I ended up having was overall fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I believe if every woman could experience this they would go to the FBC every time to get this experience.
The aftercare I received was great too, came to our house 3 times within the week and a phone call to make sure everything was going good and me and baby are happy and healthy before they signed us off to our local health care system.
I tell everyone now about the Family Birthing Centre at King Edward hospital in Subiaco! I felt it was the best experience.
