When I first found out I was pregnant, I looked into my options for care and support. After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to refer myself to the Family Birth Centre at King Edward's Memorial Hospital in Perth, WA. They offered continuity of care from the same midwife which was a priority for me.
I was allocated to Georgia, a midwife at the Centre. From the initial phone call, to my last post natal home visit with her, she provided the most amazing care that I had ever received from a health professional. During my birth, she was my rock, my cheerleader that helped me survive my labour without pain relief. She knew what to say, what position I needed to change to, and made me feel so comfortable during the most vulnerable experience of my life.
Most importantly, she helped me survive the first 10 days of being a new mum. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and she went above and beyond to help and provided the emotional support I needed during the hardest week of my life. I feel sad that this time has past and she is no longer my midwife. I cannot thank her enough and the rest of the team at the Family Birth Centre for providing the absolute best care. I cannot wait until baby 2 so I can see her again.
